Why the required RHEL/CentOS ISO Minimal Install?

Optional Reading

Why only the RHEL/CentOS "minimal install" ISO option is supported for the LSM Server before LSM Installation

Building up from the "Minimal Install" option provides a stable environment for LSM's processes:

LSM's install process will add and remove components as needed for the LSM services

LSM's install process produces a viable server oriented GUI on the base "Minimal Install" OS

- It does not include active potential destabilizing unneeded/unwanted services that the install option "Server with GUI" includes

LSM's install process provides for:

- server oriented GUI desktop

- local browser for LSM GUI access

- remote LSM GUI access via browser

- local GUI Terminal CLI

- remote SSH access to CLI

- remote API access for LSM's non-GUI interface feature

When LSM is installed on a Machine with other than LinMin guided OS "Minimal Install" with server GUI added, server/service stability may become an issue

- Note: support for issues potentially related to this environment may not be provided

Why not installing from ISO with the "Minimal Install" software option only is not supported

The RHEL or CentOS 7.x OS install option for "Server with GUI" produces a Desktop GUI with server applications added to it

- This is not as implied by the install selection title a Server with GUI components added

- It includes active services oriented to mobile-laptops with applications and active processes for music, video, internet feeds, and social-media interfaces; e.g. chats, followings, etc.

-- these applications and services do not belong on a networked server of services Machine

These active unneeded/unwanted services are known to cause issues when running in an environment without their companion responding WAN/LAN internet services

- there may be excessive requests for services and broadcasts of services; e.g. by and for forwarders and helpers

The Desktop GUI installed with the "Server with GUI" install option establishes complex interrelated dependencies between the kernel, the OS and networking with expectation of supporting WAN internet or LAN routing for supporting services.

-- due to this, it is not possible to remove all unwanted services without causing instability

With the frequent updates to the Desktop/mobile-laptop oriented OS/GUI on this platform LSM services may become unstable and unreliable with each yum update on the LSM Server.
